Laura Purusha n'était pas une star. C'était la mère de Forest Sun (ce n'est pas un pseudonyme, il s'appelle Forest Sun Schumacher), chanteur, peintre, poète et plus que cela encore. Vous en saurez plus sur lui en vous rendant sur son site web ou sur son myspace. Sachez cependant que tout ce qu'il fait, il le fait avec talent.
Laura est décédée, des suites d'un cancer, entourée des siens, le 17 février 2008, deux ans plus tard ce que le pronostic des médecins prévoyait.
Forest avait décidé de demander à des amis et artistes de donner chancun une chanson afin de réaliser un CD destiné à aider le financement de la recherche contre le cancer. Le succès fut tel que deux disques ont déjà été publiés et qu'un troisième est en préparation. On peut trouver les deux premiers volumes, publiés sur le label de Forest, Painted Sun Records, chez CD Baby.
Voici ce qu'écrivait Forest au moment de la sortie du volume 1, l'année dernière.
"Laura left her body Feb 17th… two years later than the doctors said she had to live. She died at home as she requested. Dressed in her finest garments and jewelry, holding her lovers hand as she took her last breath. My brother and I got to spend a week with her in the hospital and say goodbye. She couldn't speak but I know she could hear. I brought my guitar and we sang her favorite songs. I played her the Songs for Laura CD everyday. She is a courageous and beautiful and powerful being... and she will be missed.

It's a wonderful compilation that I know you will love and all the proceeds go to a worthy cause. My gratitude also for everyone's love and support in the last few years as my mom fought on.
There were so many great musicians willing to give their music for this project that there will be more Volumes to follow. There will be concerts with the artists involved this year as well... I'll let you know. thank you for your care".

Indépendamment de la cause défendue, qui est noble, ces compilations permettent de découvrir un certain nombre d'artistes, tous plus intéressants et talentueux les uns que les autres. Quelques-uns ont été présentés sur ce blog, d'autres (parfois les mêmes) ont été les invités d'Acoustic in Paris, beaucoup ont vu leurs disques chroniqués par Xroads, mais tous méritent d'être entendus.
